GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MINUTES

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2018

CALL TO ORDER

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion by Doug, seconded by Ruth to approve minutes from the General Membership

Meeting held Wednesday, February 7, 2018.


MONTHLY TREASURER’S REPORT

November 7, 2018 balance was $4,946.74

OLD BUSINESS

Dues for 2019 will remain at $25.00

New scorekeepers will be tested on 3 courts to determine best choice.


COMMITTEE REPORTS

Maintenance ( Doug Shumway)

Court 3 had a couple of bubbles and a crack. They have been repaired and patched.

Court 2 is still being evaluated for a winter fix per Don Callen.

Randy Kimbrell: Fence painting is tentative for mid January. 3 courts will be closed at a

time during that process. Tennis club is responsible for 1/3 of the total cost.

New scorekeepers will be tested on 3 courts to determine best choice.

Social (Ruth Naponick)

Volunteers are needed to join the Social Committee for the next 2 years. Current

members terms are up after the April Banquet.

Chili Fest is November 11

Ladies Christmas tennis luncheon is December 3 at 11:30, Madero Ball room.

$15.50 per person includes salad bar. Sign up sheet is posted at tennis kiosk.

Benefit this year is the Daisy’s Serenity House. A list for donations will be generated

prior to luncheon and checks welcome.

Pizza Social is February 10

Tournament is March 11 - 15

Spring Banquet is April 14

Cinco de mayo is May 5

Volunteers are needed to organize and run the March tournament. Carlo and John are

possible co-chairs.

Membership/Events (Don Callen)

Don is working with the local high school for a play day and bbq on our courts. The

Club is looking into a fundraising event/tournament that would benefit youth tennis

programs in the community.

Doug Shumway has found a program run by a couple at Saddlebrook Ranch. They will

supply all equipment, nets, racquets, etc. to introduce tennis at the elementary schools

in the area. All that is required of the club is a few volunteers from the Club to help at

the event. Doug will pursue.


NEW BUSINESS

A nominating committee will be required to fill the 3 Board positions that will be open.

President, Secretary & 1 Member-at-Large position.

Ruth Naponick is looking into an outreach program at the elementary school in

Hermosillo where we are sending used tennis balls and equipment.

Options were discussed for possible free clinics offered to residents and members to

promote play and camaraderie within the Quail Creek community. Ideas are welcome

as well as volunteers to run drills and offer playing tips.

Start times for all club play has been changed to 9:00 a.m. as of 11-12-18

A request was made to please make sure shed doors are closed tight to keep out bugs.

Joy Olson suggested putting a clip board in equipment shed for signing out tables etc.

for keeping track of club items. Joy volunteered to take care of this.
